Referred to as the 'Baby Baccarat', the Double XO is a blend of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey finished in heavily toasted & in XO Cognac casks.
Double XO is a distinctive blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys that have been double and triple distilled, then finished in heavily toasted barrels and XO Cognac casks. The dual-finishing process adds layers of depth and character, resulting in a richly textured and refined whiskey that showcases Woodford ReserveâÂÂs continued commitment to innovation and craftsmanship.
Woodford Reserve has used both toasted casks and XO Cognac barrels (which previously held Cognac for a minimum of 10 years) to mature its whiskey before, but not in this combination. Previously Woodford Reserve's Distillery limited series has included at least two different expressions finished in heavily toasted casks - Toasted Oak Oat Grain and Toasted Oak Four Grain. And the expensive Baccarat Edition and even more expensive Kentucky Derby: Baccarat Edition were both finished in XO Cognac casks
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Deep Mahogany.
Aroma: Chocolate-covered raisins dusted with nutmeg and toasted hazelnuts.
Taste: Warm cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg married with brown sugar topped with raisins and blackberries with a hint of toasted oak.
Finish: Long and lingering notes of oak and raisins dusted with nutmeg.
