15yo Bourbon Cask Single Malt Whisky 700ml

Part of Bushmills’ new ‘World Wood’ series.
This new series is spearheaded by Bushmills Master Blender, Alex Thomas “We search the four corners of the world to find exactly the right cask to bring back to our corner to Northern Ireland – Jerez in Spain, Kentucky in USA, and Marsala in Sicily”.
This 15yo single malt is a combination of 15yo ex – bourbon first – and second – fill American oak casks that beautifully showcases and elevates the floral and fruity Bushmills character. First – fill barrels offer bold, bourbon flavours with layers of soft vanilla and sweeter notes, while the second – fill adds more of the distinct Bushmills character and the natural flavours from the American oak.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: On the nose, the sweet oaky and maple syrup bourbon influences are there straight away. There are also botanical aromatic aromas, along with sweet vanilla, sticky marmalade, and orange blossom honey.
Palate: On the palate you get the smooth and fruity flavours you’d expect from a quality Bushmills release. There’s burnt orange, ripe apricots, and vanilla cream poached pear flavours lingering. Another sip however, and the bourbon slaps you in the face with more charred oak, salted caramel, bonfire toffee, and even a sprinkling of salted buttery popcorn.
Finish: The finish is smooth, rich, and malty. There’s a lingering sweet vanilla and caramel aftertaste, along with toasted oak, a hint of ginger, and a touch of toasted almonds.
